Steep Rock Preserve, Washington, CT

Last week Justin, Kristen and I hiked at Steep Rock Preserve in Washington, CT. The trail wasn’t challenging but it was fun. We ended up hiking up to the top (which is not too high – 776 ft elevation) then we did a few other side trails for a total of 6.2 miles. It’s a great hike for dogs! Kristen brought her dog Chloe with us. The trail map is pretty well labeled. I always take a screen shot of the trail map before we hike so I have it even if I don’t have service. (FYI – there was no service)

Justin and I have been trying to hike more since our Grand Canyon / Sedona trip is coming up! We are 43 days away! I’m so excited. We will be hiking into the Grand Canyon on our second day out there. We’ll be going down the South Kaibab trail, to the Colorado River and Phantom Ranch then hiking back up the Bright Angel trail for a total of about 18 miles. The hike has approx. 4,500 feet elevation gain. The website tells you not to hike that in one day… sooo… we’re going to hike it in one day. Haha. You only live once, right?

Check out the photos below from our Steep Rock Preserve hike!
